Word Classes and Morphology teaches the concepts of noun, verb, adjective and adverb, and helps students to understand the role of affixes in changing word class
Overview
Word Classes and Morphology teaches students the main word classes (noun, verb, adjective, adverb), increasing their confidence in secondary English classes where they will be expected to understand this terminology.
Students will also learn to recognise suffixes that signify particular word classes, encouraging them to pay more attention to suffixes. This is particularly helpful for those students who struggle with long words, or students who omit or change suffixes when reading or writing.
This module also includes more practice using word sums and morphological matrices, which are used as tools for understanding words structure throughout LIfTT.
Step-by-step guidance for teaching Word Classes and Morphology is available in the Teaching Manual.
